Haywards Heath Concert Band is an established band that has been providing
musical entertainment for many years in different formats. Originally The Haywards
Heath Scout and Guide Band, we were first formed in 1974. We were one of the
premier Scout and Guide Bands playing at many prestigious venues inside and
outside the UK. We have played at the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena and The
Guildhall in London. We have also played across Europe and the United States of

Perhaps the most remarkable performance was at Windsor as part of the Queen’s
Silver Jubilee celebrations. The band led the grand finale procession where Her
Majesty The Queen lit the first beacon to start the lighting of beacons across the
United Kingdom.

During our time as a Scout and Guide Band we owned many national awards
including winning the World Carnival Band Championships on 2 occasions. We
have performed before members of the Royal Family and Government. The Band
became known nationally for providing both a dedicated and a high quality

In 1998 we became Haywards Heath Concert Brass. This enabled us to widen our
membership to those outside of the Scout and Guide movements. We offered both a
swing band and brass band providing a wide selection of music allowing us to be
adaptable to the event and audience we were playing to. We later changed our
name to Haywards Heath Concert Band to reflect to varied style of music we offered.

In July 2019 we became a Concert Band incorporating the brass and swing bands
and once again expanding our membership this time to include woodwind players.

We are in the process of recruiting new members to join us and are delighted to
have already welcomed a number of new recruits. We will always welcome new
members with open arms and offer a friendly face and a fun time.
If you play a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument and would like to come and
join us please see the contacts page.

Even if you’ve not played for a few years just dust off your instrument and come
along. We can also supply instruments if needed.

We are currently learning a brand new selection of music which includes popular
music and film music using full concert band scores. The new set up gives us a
much richer fuller sound.
We are all very excited to be able to perform our new music and are looking to
showing off our new sound.
